Banking on its small car to be launched early next year, Ford India is targeting over three-fold increase in its sales to over 1,00,000 units per annum. Ford’s small car will compete with the likes of Maruti Wagon R and Hyundai Santro. The small car is likely to come in both petrol and diesel versions.

Looking to create a big “splash” in the super hatch segment, car market leader Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (MSIL) unveiled its second offering in the segment on Friday — the Ritz. Perhaps ironically, the new car faces the toughest competition from its own sibling, the Swift, which has a 75 per cent marketshare in the segment.

NASA mission to map the boundary of solar system
NASA’s Interstellar Boundary Explorer (IBEX) to map of the boundary between the solar system and interstellar space will be launched on a Pegasus XL rocket. The two year mission, costing US$165 million, will study the region in space where the solar wind from the sun suddenly slows down as it reaches the thin, cold gas of interstellar space.
