We have discussed the simple File Adapter Configuration earlier. In this article we will understand the concept of File Content Conversion using an example of comma separated text file as source. File Content Conversion helps in converting the file formats to/from XML.

In this article series we will discuss the nitty gritties of the SAP XI File Adapter. First we will understand the File adapter in its most basic form. Then we will have a look at File content conversion with simple and complex file structures.

SAP XI IDoc Adapter is by and far the most widely used adapter. This article describes its configuration on sender and receiver end along with related settings in XI and the involved SAP application systems. The configuration is fairly easy and straightforward. This article simply summarizes the different steps involved.

SAP XI provides different ways for SAP systems to communicate via SAP XI. You have three options namely IDoc Adapters, RFC Adapters and Proxies. In one of the earlier posts that spoke about your first XI scenario, we learned configuring the IDoc receiver adapter. And in the coming articles, I shall throw light on different adapters. This article specifically deals with understanding basics of RFC adapter on sender and the receiver side.

In previous article, we discussed IR Settings needed for your first XI scenario. Now, let us delve into ID Configuration. Integration Directory is a configuration tool which helps to configure the routing rules for the business scenarios created in Integration Repository. The ID binds the technical routing information to the interfaces via the communication channels. Communication channels contain the adapters which do the job of translating incoming message to XML and vice versa
